Indian hostility on friendship bridge: Five UDMF men hurt in night attack
Birgunj, December 3. A group of Indians attacked United Democratic Madheshi Front cadres on Wednesday night, while they were staging a sit-in on the Friendship Bridge along the Nepal-India border. The attack has left five protesters injured.
They are Suresh Sah Kanu of Kalaiya, Bara, Ranjit Sah of Feta-2, Ram Dahin Yadav and Nandu Yadav of Dakshin Jhitkaiya and Firoj Babu Khan of Birgunj-13. The injured are receiving treatment at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj. Most of the injured have suffered head injuries.
Birganj-Jhadap,-MainThe Indian nationals had pelted UDMF cadres obstructing the border point with stones, prompting the cadres to flee. The Indian nationals also vandalised the tent that protesters had set up for their sit-in.
This enabled Indian trucks stock at Nepali territories to enter Raxaul. The Indians are likely to have attacked the protesters for this very purpose.
However, another version is that the Indians attacked UDMF cadres because they seized and spilled oil that Indian nationals had brought for sale in Nepal.
